farewell summer

My, has it been this long? I guess that's what the beginning of fall does. As we enter the final week of radiation everything else seems to be starting up. School (middle school for Jack!), Cecilia (Brahms Requiem this fall), Fall Ball (times 3! Sammy has started)... and we tried to jam a bit more summer into Labor Day weekend, with a boys sailing day with John and Jeff Sunday, and a quick Cape visit Monday. Thanks to Captain Bergland and Davy & Joan for the great times!

But to Becca. She is tired. The nurses were not kidding about week 5. It is mainy an evening fatigue though; early bedtime, sometimes even before the bigs get to sleep.

She has also gotten to know the radiation techs a little better, and they are cool. So a slight retraction on that flash-and-dash post. For instance, sometimes they have to jog the table to get Becca into position -- with Becca on it. So yesterday during a particularly nasty set of table jogs one of techs snarked "the whiplash is free today"

And one other thing. Becca is baking. Like crazy. Now, many of us are accustomed to to her wild cooking spurts. But baking? Yeah, I'm talking bread and brownies and cake and muffins and... what the? Neither of us can explain it. Perhaps Hannah's arrival has spurred some sisterly nesting, or maybe she's just starting to feel more like herself and needs to catch up! Man, that's like almost a year of baking coming at us. I better get back running.
