busy schedule

Many many appointments of late, so I figured I should post a short update before December disappears. All is well. The plastic surgeon has cleared Becca for the next phase, which is… wait for it… nipple construction. Am I allowed to say that on a family blog? Well there, I just did. I think the procedure involves some two-by-fours and duct tape. I could be wrong on that. That will all come about in January at some point.

We also met with the breast surgeon last week. Regular 6-month check-up. My, these months are flying by. No concerns and it was great to see her again.

And of course visits continue every three weeks to see our cool oncologist and to get the Herceptin. The Lupron experiment was a bust. Becca was anxious and exhausted the entire time she was on it. Since the benefits of Lupron are not proven, the onc is ok with us putting that treatment on hold. Maybe we will revisit it when more data is available.

This week, Becca had another echo to make sure her heart is still handling the Herceptin ok. Still no problems. And also a mammogram for the right side on Monday (see?! I mean we may as well just move to Needham!). All clear on the mammo.

Next year we will also be scheduling the next bone and CT scans, which always juice the old worry meters, but what can ya do? You need to keep an eye on things.

With that, I think we bid 2010 adieu. Thanks, 10, for the improvement on 09. Who knows, maybe I'll post something again this month, but just in case we actually have to do all the things that are listed on our family calendar at the moment... Happy Holidays to all!
