shampoo and reality checks

A quaint milestone, but a cool one nonetheless: Becca has bought shampoo. As much as I liked the extra space on the shower rack for the past few months, it is great to see female hair care products make a comeback in our bathroom, ha! The hair has not been deemed ready for primetime, but there is enough of it to wash, so there ya go.

Becca's been doing great but I have had another roller coaster of a time. Friday night for some reason I had one of those nightmares where it is so visceral you can't shake it for the whole day afterward. I guess I don't need to elaborate on its contents. I spent all Saturday calling Becca and asking why she wasn't home yet from shopping with Rachel, etc. Fun, eh?

Saturday evening we went into Children's Hospital to visit our nephew who was recuperating from scheduled open-heart surgery. Talk about your snaps back to reality. Both Becca and I saw our worries shrivel to insignificance as our rambunctious and healthy children took to the halls of a hospital dedicated wholly to the care of sick children. In the cardiac unit, some severely so. And some still in diapers. I dare say seeing the kids and their parents there would make even the most disheartened and downtrodden soul count his lucky stars.
