Merry Christmas

Woah there! It's been a while. What a crazy time of year this is, eh? But I just looked back at last year's December entries and not a mention of the holidays. December 23rd, our first plastics visit. December 26th, the first echocardiogram. Christmas and Hanukkah took quite the back seat. We feel so lucky to be where we are now this year!

So speaking of December 23rd last year, we had another plastic surgery visit yesterday. Although the wait was the usual wait-from-hell, Dr. L was very pleased with Becca's skin's recovery from the radiation so far, and she got another 50 cc's of saline in her tissue expander. She'll be getting the same every two weeks until reconstruction at the end of March. Looks like we are still on track.

Today we are just finishing up Herceptin and Zometa and we had a visit with our oncologist this morning. Our onc visits have become increasingly social, with more time spent talking about our kids than Becca's cancer, which is fine with us. Anyway the exam went well. I have those January scans in the back of my mind but I'm trying to push them WAY back so we can just enjoy the "routine"time now. I know the scans will probably be just fine, but c'mon, when have we ever had a bone scan that was just fine? Oy.

In other news, Becca is giving a talk at our UU church on Sunday the 27th entitled Lessons I've Learned From Cancer. She is just barely getting all the thoughts together now (as if she doesn't have enough else on her plate!), but I think later on we will post a transcript here so you can have a break from reading my blathering and get the scoop on how the actual patient feels about all this. Anyone local is of course welcome and encouraged to attend. Email me for details.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year to all!
