entering radiation land

First, nothing much to report for Tuesday's appointment. We went in for a tissue expander saline injection but because of the infection Becca had this weekend the doctor decided to hold off until it was completely gone. We're running out of time on the tissue expansion front since we can't really do it during or after radiation. But the doc reminded us that while tissue expansion would be a nice luxury to have, it was certainly not required for a good reconstuction result. Infections, however, are more serious and so we deal with that first.

So then on to today where we finally met with the radiation oncologist. First time we have seen her since the beginning, way back in November when the entire team introduced themselves. She warned us then we wouldn't be seeing her for a long time; we had many roads to travel before we got to her. We really have come such a long way!

So it was nice to finally have the last member of our team enter the picture. Becca goes in for the "planning" visit August 3rd and then starts 6 weeks of treatment the following week.

Lastly, I forgot to mention that this weekend was a big hair weekend. Becca finally decided to pitch the head scarves. The heat probably was the last straw, but she's really got a ton of fuzz up there now. Although you can still make out her widdow's peak in the front, there is no longer any visible scalp. Yay!
