just twist her arm and...

Well yesterday we finally had our Growing Up Skipper appointment. The infection being almost entirely in check, our plastics doc proceeded with Becca's first fill-up. In which he takes a needle and syringe that are so enormous they look made for a horse, and squeezes a good-sized volume of saline into the port of the tissue expander, just under Becca's skin. It didn't even look like Becca felt the needle as she gabbed with the nurse during the whole thing. So the doctor would have preferred a few more fill-ups but as he explained, one is better than none, he can certainly still work with it, and most of all the treatment is more important so we stick with what we've got.

We also had a Herceptin appointment today with the beloved nurses back in Needham, but we bid them adieu for a few treatments now, since it will be easier to get the Herceptin in Boston when Becca is already in there daily for the radiation treatments. Planning for that next Monday and then she starts up the Monday following.

  1. Hi Becca,
I'm speaking for the Great Race Committee as well as myself. We're all watching your progress. We all wish you well and I personally think of you often, as I spend much time with your Dad and Sue. We recently had couple committee member's fall ill also. Our thought's and prayers are with all of you. If we/I can be of any help please let me know.

    Take care,
    Tim Walczyk

  2. Oh my gosh, I totally had a Growing Up Skipper when I was a kid. I don't know what happened to it - my old Barbies were all in my mom's attic, except for that one . . . How hilarious - some people I tell about it don't even believe me! (And this isn't Ed, it's Jessica!)
