Well, not in the cancer sense. But in the sense that mommy is now going to be out of action again for a few weeks. We go in on Wednesday for Becca's reconstruction, and the surgery is scheduled to be an all-day affair. Much more involved than the mastectomy. Recovery is 4-5 days in the hospital and then more at home of course. As you can see at the right, we have started up the food brigade again and the troops have responded with immediate speed. I think all the slots are already filled up. Later on we'll see if we might need any help past Memorial Day.
So this was a hard Mothers Day weekend, surprisingly. We didn't have much going on but I think every member of this family is bracing for the coming change in our dynamic is his or her own way. The kids are velcroing themselves to Becca, and Becca is not sleeping very well. During the day Becca is gardening like crazy, as if she has to have everything for the whole summer done now. We are also madly cleaning the house, because we know it will just have to be let go for the next few weeks while Becca is laid up and I am holding the kids schedules & homework together. We will get through it of course, but it makes it worse to already know what it is like. 2009 is not so distant a memory for any one of us, I would wager.
BUT. We are here. We are cleaning up the mess that Lumpy made. How fantastic is that?!

This would be so much harder without you.
