scooter's experiment

First to the important stuff. Becca is out of the PACU and into a regular hospital room. The oxygenation levels on the newly placed tissue are excellent, which means the sewn-together capillaries are doing quite well. I know. I still can't believe you can do that either. She still slept a lot of the day but she is definitely more with it than she was last night. Moving around or coughing is painful, but when she's in bed she's not even using the morphine.

So here's the funny thing. On Tuesday at her pre-op appointment we noticed there was a recently-received kitty scratch from Scooty on Becca's belly - about and inch-and-a-half long. Healing nicely. Couldn't even remember when she got it. We get these all the time; the kids do too. You play with Scooty when he's frisky, you're bound to get a scratch or two. No big deal.

Can you see where this is going? Fast-forward to today, when Dr. L. comes in to check up. He does a mini-ultrasound on the new tissue, carefully going over all the places and listening for proper blood flow and making sure all the sutures are doing their job (they are). Becca looks down and says "Hey! My scratch!" Yup. There it was. Dr. L. smiled and said "yeah, we were wondering where that was going to end up…" He then went on to tell us about a stomach tattoo that got moved one time. So just remember kids, before you get that tattoo...

Scooter the cat will be happy to see his experiment paid off.
