Yesterday we went in to the hospital as usual and spun the roulette wheel once again... will we get a roommate who turns on daytime tv? And we're off..... yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes... no... yes...... no...... yes............ no............ yes.
ARGH! We lose. On comes The View. Like a cheese grater on the brain. Becca's lucky; she's got a steady drip of benadryl at this point. She can just doze it out. What to do? What to do? Thinking quickly, I grabbed a pair of old earbuds out of my laptop bag and slapped them into the laptop. Brought up iTunes. Lal Meri made it allllll better. Oh thank you, take me away from The View, Lal Meri. And yes, that's an iTunes link and this has now become a music recommendation blog, didn't you hear? Think Fiona Apple with an infectious electronica base and a touch of Indian. Totally takes you away.
But on to Becca. She won't admit it, but I tell you the hair has started coming back! She's got a little peach fuzz layer now up there. She thinks it is just what she missed when she shaved it, but she forgets that I shaved it, and I think I can remember how it looked after I shaved it, thank you very much. The word from the onc was that there was a remote possibility the hair could start coming back during the Taxol. Perhaps Becca has spun this particular roulette wheel to great advantage!
Yesterday's rest-of-the-day was a lot like last week's: get home, sleep off the benadryl, be wired for the rest of the day, come down a bit in the evening and feel normal, crash at bedtime, wake up at 1 and don't fall asleep again for an hour. Lovely, innit?
And before I forget, long-lost Andra appeared on our doorstep yesterday. Becca had not seen this old work buddy and classmate of ours for years, yet here she was, packing delicious (so I'm told) fish. Thank you Andra! Sammy loves it too!

"So I'm told"? What, fish ain't good enough for you?
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you all! Really had been way too long.
Sorry! I think perhaps a more accurate statement would be that I ain't good enough for the fish. Perhaps Becca didn't tell you. I'm not big on fish. Even really good fish. But this is not about me, is it? It made me so happy to see that look on Becca's face I only see when we go out to eat and she goes straight for whatever the fish special is. :-)
