the surgeon's view

Becca is still going strong. We're waiting for the other shoe to drop here but she just doesn't seem to need to be in bed yet; the fatigue is not setttling in like last time. We wish we could point to a definite reason but there are just too many variables. Was it her body just used to it now? The acupuncture? The beef stew? The lack of bad TV? Who knows. We'll take it.

So a lot happened on Thursday that we didn't tell you about because of the Neulasta Redemption. I figured we could leak it out during a lull in news which we seem to have now.

The first appointment we had in the morning was with the surgeon. She needed to follow up on the infection and since the area was still a bit red decided to keep Becca on the antibiotics for a bit.

Also during the exam she smiled and said the tumor is getting softer already. She turned to me point blank and said "Have you felt this recently?!" Well, I'm thinking, that is a pretty personal question. Becca of course knew what I was thinking and rolled her eyes.

She also said the infection could very well have been caused by the chemo going to war on the tumor. If lots if dead tumor cells were being sloughed off, it might have lead to what Becca came down with. This chemo's got its own pair of pointy boots!

And then darned if Megan didn't call us that night and say, without any knowledge of this conversation with the surgeon, that William was thinking the exact same thing.
